Betting on EPL Top Goalscorer – Premier League Golden Boot Candidates

With a new Premier League season now just weeks away, 20 teams will once again compete to be the kings of English football and although only a handful of outfits can be considered genuine challengers, it does not mean the competition will be any less interesting. For those considering betting on EPL top goalscorer this upcoming season will be very interesting.

Especially when there are personal accolades that are also up for grabs and with the Golden Boot being awarded to the player or players that score the most goals in a season, this is always an award that is keenly fought over.

An award that was shared last time around, as Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Tottenham’s Hueng-min Son scored 23 goals each and in doing so, they were the two dominant forwards of the 2021/22 campaign.

However, their impressive tallies will be reset to zero along with everybody else and with each of the Premier League’s marksmen now on an even playing field, it is time to review the runners and riders for the next edition of the award.

EPL  Betting on Top Goalscorer – Erling Haaland (Manchester City)

Although Manchester City did not have a direct replacement for Sergio Aguero last season, it did little to stop them and with the Etihad outfit eventually winning a fourth Premier League title in five years, many asked just how this side could still improve.

A question that is answered by the arrival of Erling Haaland and with the Norwegian forward now leaving Borussia Dortmund and the Bundesliga behind, he will add an extra element to City’s impressive attacking arsenal.

An element which could see Pep Guardiola’s men run roughshod over the rest of the division and although the Spaniard usually has an interchangeable supporting cast when it comes to goals, he now also has a leading light to spearhead their latest title defence.

Whether Haaland breaks scoring records in the division is something that remains to be seen and although the all-time Premier League high of 34 goals may be out of reach, he is already the favourite to win the 2022/23 Golden Boot.

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) – EPL Betting on Top Goalscorer

With Mohamed Salah being the current joint-holder of the accolade, it is not something that he will want to hand back anytime soon and although there was obvious disappointment in not helping Liverpool to last season’s title, a personal prize would have softened the blow slightly.

However, Salah is no longer with Sadio Mane in attack and with the Merseyside men going through something of an attacking evolution this summer, this could hamper the Egyptian’s goalscoring output.

Especially as Liverpool have put all their chips in an expensive forward of their own and although Darwin Nunez made light work of Portugal’s Liga NOS last season, the Premier League is a considerable step up.

Add that to how he and Salah will co-exist throughout the campaign, and it will make for an interesting subplot at Anfield – one that could see Liverpool lose their mantle as best of English football’s rest.

Harry Kane (Tottenham) – Golden Boot Betting

Although Harry Kane got off to a slow start last season, he certainly found his groove towards the end of the campaign and with his goals playing a considerable part in Tottenham’s return to the Champions League, he will want to hit the ground running in August.

Especially as Spurs boss Antonio Conte is doing his very best to build a squad that is capable of being genuine Premier League challengers at the very least and whisper it quietly, Premier League winners at the very most.

This means goals from the Tottenham and England talisman are going to be just as important this season as any other and with any talk of Kane moving on from North London now fully silenced, the focus is on earning both the title and the Golden Boot.

Something that seemed outside the realm of possibility twelve months ago and although it did look as if Kane had more than one eye on a move to Manchester City, he would eventually remind everyone just how fearsome a forward he truly is.

Heung-min Son (Tottenham)

While if it is not to be Harry Kane who delivers accolades to London’s N17 postcode, then there is no reason why Heung min-Son should be left out of the conversation and after helping himself to a Golden Boot last season, he now has the taste for personal prizes.

Because last season was undoubtedly the campaign when Son found a new level to his game and for those doubting whether the South Korean forward is world-class, you only have to look at his performances in the second half of last season.

Not only that, but Son has also been turning it on for his country this summer and with the former Bayer Leverkusen forward also now adept at taking and scoring freekicks, this had added another string to his attacking bow.

Like Mohamed Salah of Liverpool, Son is just as comfortable through the centre than he is out wide and with him being the mould of a complete forward, backing him to win the Golden Boot in successive years is worth your consideration.

EPL Betting on Top Goalscorer – The Longer Shots

With Manchester United now operating under the watchful eye of Erik ten Hag, it will be interesting to see just where Cristiano Ronaldo fits into this plans and whether that leads to an abundance of goals from the Portuguese icon.

While staying on the topic of evergreen forwards, Leicester will hope that Jamie Vardy has his shooting boots once again and although the former England international is more susceptible to injury these days, he still knows where the opposition goal is.

Something that can also be said for Gabriel Jesus and with the Brazilian now linking up with Arsenal, he will be their main focus in attack. While if he can deliver goals with regularity, a top-four bid may also be on the Gunners’ agenda this season.

Add Liverpool’s supporting cast of Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz into the mix, and it is shaping up to be an exciting 2022/23 season and who knows, maybe even the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Alexsandar Mitrovic could be wearing the Premier League Golden Boot next May.

Conclusion

There are many obviously selections. However, better value may lie in players just under the radar. All in all, you can view the latest odds on EPL Top goalscorer here at VIPCasino.
