Coming back for the first half of games after the winter break. In this preview, a lot of the teams are in need of wins in an attempt to climb their way up from a relegation battle. Have a read below for some of our picks this weekend.
Brighton vs Watford
Where: Falmer Stadium
When: February 8th, 12.30 p.m.
Our Pick: Brighton (+115)
Relegation battle clash. Brighton is just 2 points off relegation and a win for Watford would take them out of the relegation zone. These games are extremely important for sides fighting relegation. Every point for both sides from here on now could be the one that saves them. Watford has won their last two games whereas Brighton has only managed three draws in their last five outings.
Glenn Murray could be an important figure for Brighton and could possibly inspire hope into the side. Troy Deeney, on the other hand, could be a big figure for Watford. Either striker can produce some moments of magic to seal a victory for their team. In this case, we are going for Brighton to nab the 3 points at home.
Sheffield United vs Bournemouth
Where: Bramall Lane
When: February 9th, 9 a.m.
Our Pick: Sheffield United (-135)
Bournemouth looked distraught after a bad run of one win in 12 Premier League games. After some back to back wins the Cherries will look to keep their current form going. Bournemouth has some quality in their side and should pick up enough points between now and May to avoid relegation. An away trip to Sheffield United will be no easy task.
Sheffield United have been better on the road this season than at home. They have been ticking along nicely and the 40 points mark for any newly promoted team is fantastic. Focusing on a game at a time a win against Bournemouth could bring them closer and closer to European football. European Football is a bit of a stretch for Sheffield, but a top 10 finish will be a major success for the club. We still think that Sheffield United’s form will overshadow Bournemouth’s resurgence and the Blades will grab the win.
Manchester City vs West Ham
Where: Etihad Stadium
When: February 9th, 11.30 a.m.
Our Pick: Manchester City (-1075)
West Ham travels to the Etihad to face off against 2nd place Man City. Guardiola has already come out and said that the league is not their main priority. Man City are just focusing on qualifying for the Champions League and any other silverware they can grab this season. West Ham is currently in the danger of relegation sitting at 18th in the Premier League. There are only 2 points between West Ham and Brighton who are sitting in 15th. The Hammers must face City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, and Chelsea over their next 7 games. It would not be a big surprise to see them go down unless they come up with some newfound great run of form.
City, on the other hand, has been more erratic than usual this season. They are still second in the league. Sitting 2 points ahead of Leicester a few more wins under their belt will guarantee top 4 for Pep Guardiola’s side. A game that should go to Man City but maybe David Moyes has a few tricks up his sleeve, which we seriously doubt. Although the odds are short back Man City -1 at (-360) with VIP.
