NHL Betting Preview – 27th January 2020

NHL Betting Preview – 27th January 2020

The NHL returns after the All-Star break with a full schedule of games taking place this week. There is about 30 games remaining in the regular season and plenty still to play for with regards to playoff places.

Toronto Maple Leafs @ Nashville Predators

When: Monday January 27th @ 8:05PM

Where: Bridgestone Arena, Nashville, Tennessee

Odds: Toronto Maple Leafs +100 Nashville Predators -115

The Maple Leafs begin a short stint on the road with a trip to Nashville to face the Predators.

Our Pick: Toronto Maple Leafs @ +100 with VIP Sports

The Maple Leafs will be hoping to make a strong start to the second half of the season with a win in Nashville on Monday night. Toronto are in 4th position in the Atlantic Division with a 25-17-7 record.

On paper, a roadtrip doesn’t begin with an easier assignment than this. Nashville are bottom of the Central Division with 22 wins and 25 losses to their name. That doesn’t tell the whole story though. They are only three games back from 4th placed Winnipeg Jets and they have played four games less. A run of victories would see them rise up the table into playoff contention.

Looking ahead to this one, we fancy the Maple Leafs to pick up the win. Auston Matthews is a force to be reckoned with on the offensive end and he can be backed at +110 with VIP to get his name on the scoresheet.

Back the Leafs to win with VIP Sports.

Ottawa Senators @ Buffalo Sabres

When: Tuesday January 28th @ 7PM

Where: First Niagara Center, Buffalo, New York

Get ready for an all Atlantic Division matchup in Buffalo on Tuesday night.

Our Pick: Buffalo Sabres

Things are tight in the Atlantic Division with not much separating the top and bottom teams in the standings. Ottawa picked up their first win in ten games with a 5-2 victory over the Calgary Flames. Apart from that win, there has been little to shout about for Senators fans in 2020. In head office, attention already seems to be turning towards next season with Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Dylan DeMelo reportedly on the trade block.

The Sabres are in a slightly healthier position with 22 wins under their belt. Inconsistency has cost them dearly though. The positivity surrounding recent wins over the Oilers and Stars has been negated by disappointing losses to the Blues and Canucks.

This is the third meeting between these two and the home team has been victorious on both occasions. We think that trend will continue with a Buffalo win. Back the Sabres to win with VIP Sports.

Calgary Flames @ Edmonton Oilers

When: Wednesday January 29th @ 8PM (MST)

Where: Rogers Place, Edmonton, Alberta

An important Pacific Division clash between Canadian rivals at Rogers Place on Wednesday night.

Our Pick: Edmonton Oilers

2nd placed Edmonton Oilers host 3rd placed Calgary Flames in this Pacific Division clash. These sides boast almost identical records and the result will have major implications on the final standings in the Division.

The Oilers have been surprise package of the 2019/2020 season. Having only reached the post season in two of the last fourteen seasons, expectations were not high coming into this one. However, the performances of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have put them right in contention. The Edmonton pair lead the league in scoring and are primed for a tilt at the Stanley Cup.

We’re tipping a win for the Oilers on home ice to just nudge themselves ahead of the pack.
